Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I work for a pizza place as a delivery driver. At time of hire I was not required to provide a copy of my driving record. I was required to provide a valid drivers licens and proof of valid insurance (I did) and was hired and have been working for some time. I drive my own vehicle with my own insurance.

I was informed that now that if I don't go to DMV and pay for a copy of my driving record and produce it for them by Friday that I will know longer be able to drive.

I was under the impression and told that because I was already hired and it wasnt a requirment at time of hire, because I drive my own vehicle and pay my own insurance that they couldn't do that and it was illeagle for them to do it. That if they want a copy they can order it on there own or do a back ground check and get it but it was there responsablity to get it and pay for it.

Is this true? Can they do this? What is the law surounding this?

No, it is not true; yes, they can (do it)m and if you want to work for this pizzeria outfit, you'll have to comply with their request. (Around $10 for a copy of your DMV record.)
