Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

i work at a state job and have a second job on the side. I was injured on the second job and am out on Medical leave. My state job fired me. Is that legal

Yes, unfortunately, very likely so, unless you were covered in your state employment by a contract or CBA (collective bargaining agreement) which protected you from such summary dismissal.
