Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Hello I work in Virginia and wanted to know if an employer can just walk up at any time during the work day and insist that an employee stay later then scheduled to cover employees shift. Or is there a minimum notice they must provide for forced schedule changes. Thank you.

Such advance notice of a change in the employee's work schedule would

likely be a requirement only if it were specified in an enforceable contract

or collective bargaining type of agreement (in my opinion) covering the

particular employee involved.
