Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I worked for a person who owns there own consultant company. They are employed by another company that has a contract with a client. I was hired, signed my employment contract and was paid by this person.

A couple of months ago, they informed me that they couldn't pay me for work I have completed because they hadn't been paid from there company and the client. Being that I was employed by them, can I take legal action to otain my wages from her?

I have no affilation with the company she works for or the client. My emplyment contract was with her only. What are some of my option?

Yes, if your employment contract has incurred a material breach based upon

nonpayment of compensation promised, you may want to sue this defaulting

promisor in small claims court. (The jurisdictional limit is $5k. If your

damages exceed that, you could sue in regular general district court

for up to $15K.)
