Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I am working at a brand new restaurant where the new management has no experience. She has hired many family members and personal friends and the employees who were hired originally have lost shifts to these new hires. Management refused to post a schedule citing she believes it will cause drama and problems if we see other peoples shifts. We currently must call daily to find out the next time we may be working. Is she not legally required to post a schedule in full view so that employees are able to schedule around their work life all the many other things in their personal?
