Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
I was working as a Manager for this resturant for almost 2 years. I went in yesterday and was handed a letter of termination. Futher more the letter falsly accuses me of stealing and states that my final pay check will be held as restitution. I have already learned that I must file an unpaid wage claim with Virginia's DOL, but I have heard this can take a very long time. Is there anything else I can do?

Consider consulting with an attorney who handles civil
litigation matters as to whether you may have a viable
case for defamation or related type claim under Vrginia law..
You should bear in mind, however, that if there is any truth
to the employer's claim, such will normally serve as an
absolute defense to your tort action.
