Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Possible wrong career choice

I was offered and accepted a job in Nov. 07 with a start date of Jan. 08 with a consulting firm. It was stated to me that I would be working on a contract at my start date. It appears that the contract did not materialize and now I'm worried that the firm will terminate me now that I am ''sitting on the bench'' waiting for another contract to come in. Prior to taking this job I turned down 2 other offers (both at $100k+) and multiple interviews. Please notice I waited 2 months to start at the request of this company which hurt me financially. I live in Virginia and signed a document that the company can terminate me w/o cause at any time. Do I have any recourse if this happens?

No, none that I know of, even without your signature on that particular document.
