Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
Wrong treatment
I have been working with the company for 14 years.I had a very good review since i started 1991. Recently A senior visitor came to the company and used harsh words on front of other people.I went to human resource and complained. Since that date my immediate supervisor's boss have been targeted me and forcing me to quit. After the incident he had a meeting with me threating me that if i occumulate more than two write up he would terminate me. I never received any write up before that incidents. Now, he wrote me up 3 time within 6 months. and recently gave me a year review '' need improvment''. All the write up are completly unjustifible and i'm afraid to go to HR agian thinking that will be last straw to end my hard working for this big company. Please advise how can protect my self if they decded to end my career. thank you

Re: Wrong treatment
It would appear that your company has been laying the goundwork for your termination via the so-called "write ups". The harsh reality is that in Virginia which is an employment-at-will jurisdiction, unless a worker has the protection of an employment contract or collective bargaining agreement, he or she can be dismissed at any time for virtually any reason which doesn't violate federal antidiscrimination laws.
In other words, with respect to your particular situation as you've described it, if you're terminated for reasons which don't violate the above-referenced laws, you will be without a remedy.
