Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Years ago, I worked part time for Sears. As the economy took a down turn, so did my scheduled hours. Eventually I turned in my letter of resignation with 2 wks notice ( which I still have a copy of). I found another job and thought everything was ok. Recently, having moved to a new state, I applied at the Sears here and was told that I was ineligible because I was fired from my previous position with the company. I have contacted the management of that store and gotten no results. Now I cannot include Sears in my work history for fear of a bad reference. What can I do to get this fixed in their system. That's all I want.

I would suggest that you contact Sears at a higher level of management( HR at

main company headquarters, if necessary) until you get some satisfaction with

your request.
