Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia
4 college students signed an apartment lease agreement and paid $1,400 security deposit. They found a better home and approached the property management about breaking the lease. They were told they would be released from the agreement if they brought someone to them, willing to take over the lease. The 4 college students found a group of students to take over the lease. The 4 college students sign a document to allow the other students to take over the lease. The 2nd group of students signed a contract and put some money down. Later, they decided to withdrawl from the agreement. The property management have said that the original 4 college students are still responsible for the lease. The question is: If the contract was signed by this second group of students with money, aren't they responsible for the lease now? The property management says that the lease was not 'complete', whatever that means and therefore they are not liable. I would appreciate what the law says about this and if we are going to be stuck with this lease. Thank you!!!

So, let a lawyer review this alleged contract signed by this second group of students
and to offer his or her opinion as to its validity, accordingly.
