Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

My annual rent for my T rack to store my canoe/kayaks was due on May 15. I have proof from my bank it was paid the 13th. I failed to go to the office and get my "2019" stickers onto my boat. I walked by my T rack on June 6 and noticed my cables cut and my canoe/kayaks gone. No written notification was sent to me. I filed a police report but assume the community association is responsible. They have, in fact, given me an email stating property that was not legally stored will be auctioned off. I feel my property was taken illegally and was indeed legally stored, since I paid on time. What recourse do I have? What action should I take? I have already emailed them with my complaints. Thank you.

If the community association is the culprit in this situation you could sue them in small claims court for your damages

which could include the fair market value of your watercraft if they are not recoverable for whatever reason.
