Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia
My apartment building refuses to give me a second key. I have an 8 year old son- whom they say is not 13 to be given a key. I need the second key so his babysitter can pick him up after school and get into the apartment. They want me to pay $50 for a second key. BUT they will charge me utilities for 2 occupants . It doesn't make any sense.
I want to know if they can legally do that.
Thank you so much!

Assuming that these requirements from your landlord do not constitute violations
of your lease, then (in my opinion) they are quite legal.
