Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

I am an "authorized occupant" at my current residence, an apartment. My roommate, the lease holder, has informed me that she is vacating the apartment and not paying the rent for the final two months of the lease; in fact, ducking out on it. I cannot pay the entire lease on my own. Am I, as an authorized occupant, liable for the broken lease and for any damages to the apartment (carpet, blinds, etc.) after vacating? I did not sign the lease. Thank you

No; you could, however, possibly assume such liability if you did so voluntarily after the abscondence of the leaseholder.
