Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

bought a home, need to get out of lease

We notified our landlords in August

that we are having a baby and

needed more space. We asked for a

provision to get out of the lease.

They have said that we can't. We

offered to pay two months rent as a

penalty, we offered to sublease the

remaining 4 months, we offered to

list the home, etc. We bought a

home and we are closing at the end

of the month. We will have 4

months remaining on our lease. Is

there any way that we can exit the

lease because we are buying a home

in VA?

Re: bought a home, need to get out of lease

No, there is not(a way for you to "exit

the lease" without penalty) without the landlord's approval. (Buying a home in Virginia and having a baby are not reasons which would permit you to legally break a lease without penalty.)
