Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia
breaking a lease
under what conditions can you break a lease? I have 2 children 10 & 4 I live in an apartment community that looks nice to the naked eye but has alot of problems, drugs, gangs, fights in the streets and on the playground mostly by teenagers and young adults. I will not allow my kids outside due to the things I have witnessed and have expressed my concerns with management and I am told to call the law. I do but I never filed a complaint because I have to live there and I am not trying to be targeted for violance. My tires have already been punctured once.

Re: breaking a lease
What you've recounted here would be very unlikely to be held legally sufficient justification to terminate prematurely your lease without penalty.
