Breaking Lease
I gave notice and broke my lease after my apartment was robbed. I submitted a letter to landlord explaining the situation with a copy of the police report. The landlord sued me for nonpayment of rent for the months the apartment was not rented. I lost my case the first time. I am appealing, and must write a grounds of defense. Can my grounds of defense be that I feared for my life, and that the landlord failed to provide a safe living environment?

Yes, of course you could include that but a mere
"apartment being robbed", by which you likely mean burglarized(people are robbed, apartments are burglarized), will not be enough to allow you to prevail.
