Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

Civil Judgement

I recently lost a civil judgement against my landlord. He is evicting us because he claims we were late 8 of 10 payments. I was unable to show the judge my proof of payment. they simply asked I agreed and said no. The judge never allow myself or my husband any opportunity to show our proof of payment. Nor the unsanity conditions which we have had to live with for the past 3 months. In light of this we now have to move or be evicted. How long does it take for eviction and should I appeal the judgement

Re: Civil Judgement

Depends upon how busy the local sheriff's office may be which handles the evictions; larger jurisdictions like Fairfax are likely to take considerably longer than smaller ones such as Arlington.

If you feel that the General District Court judge erred in evaluating the evidence, you have 10 calendar days to note your appeal from the date of the decision to have a trial de novo in the circuit court.
