Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

My daughter bought a house 4 years ago which I co-signed for, her then boyfriend moved in when she did. He has not worked for 2 years and has never helped with any bills - nothing has his name on it. My daughter gave him a last chance to find a job and help out, he worked for 3 days and got fired. How do we go about getting him out of the house? Can we pack his clothes (that's all he has there) and take them to his parents house? Please help - my daughter is at her wits end.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

My daughter lives in Virginia.

No, you and your daughter will have to file formal eviction procedures (warrant for

unlawful detainer) with the clerk's office (civil division) of your local

general district court in order to have him removed. (And, if you try to

go the self-help route to evict him, you could later face his claims

of liability against you.)
