Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

and friend and i had moved in together and thing wasnt going so well so dce 14 2009 she left the place and broke the contract i gave her 2 weeks to get her belongings because someone else was going to move in to help out with the rent..well 2 weeks past and she didnt come to get her thing so i called and let her know that she need to get her belonging my the 15 of jan which would be 30 day and if she dont her things will be disposed of. january 17 i moved because i could afford the place ne more and i lost ny security deposit and she lost her belongings. now she is sueing me for thowing out her thing. what i did was that legal and if not how can i cove myself

You may not be able to successfully defend against her suit, particularly, if you have no credible and verifiable record of your alleged notice to her to remove her items of personal property from the unit. (Might want therefore to consider offering her a settlement before court.)
