Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

My husband and I will be moving out of our rental at the end of our lease (June 1st), we gave our 60 notice and it was acknowledged by both the landlord and the rental company. Needless to say ever since giving them our 60 days, they have been for short, almost confrontational with us. We sent them an email stating what will be reasonable for us in showing the house and what can be worked with if need be. Basically it stated we don't want to be harassed all day and night next 2 months. It was very polite. We received a nasty email back about how she will show it whenever she wants and we don't have a say in the matter (our lease says she has to give us 24 hours notice and has to be reasonable for everyone). I wrote back a simple email stating her attitude is unprofessional and that we need our peace just as much as she needs her days off (mind you there wasn't any days that we fully denied her). We haven't heard back from her since.

But a for rent sign was put up on Monday and since then we have been having people knocking on our door asking questions and trying to find out when we are leaving since the online ads say the property is available now. We do not live in favorable neighborhood and have had all types of people coming up to our door. I am home all alone every day because I work out of the house. I don't feel I should have to field questions and have to deal with people knocking on my door everyday, sometimes multiple times. This has already become a nuisance and we still have a little under 2 months left here with dealing with this.

I would like to know how I can go about confronting the rental agent about the nuisance and safety hazard this has already become and how I go about dealing with her when she decides to show the house without our consent. We do have a dog and I am also worried about her safety also if she comes in without us knowing.

I would suggest posting a brief sign at the entrance to the property informing

those who are interested of your expected move out date and that for any

further information that they should contact the landlord.

And, I would leave it at that.
