Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

I am a landlord. I have a lease with a tenant that is dated october of 2006. The lease states that at end of year it automatically renews and that either party can terminate this agreement by giving at least 30 day notice prior to the end of calendar month. My question Do I have the right to raise the rent as long as I give 30 days notice?

As already answered, if the written lease indicates something different

regarding the required advance notice to the tenant for raising the rent, then follow that; if not, then 30 days.
