Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

Landlord not paying condo association

My family moved into a Condo 30 days ago, & within the short duration of our occupancy we have discovered that all 3 major appliances are not in working condition, the owner has not been paying the condo association for quite sometime, & as a result our parking privileges have been revoked, AND the owner has the condo up for sale, & we are dealing with issues concerning our privacy being violated by his Realtors. Last week the Realtors sent an agent, & potential buyer into our home while we were sleeping!!! We have had to pay for repairs on the fridge & stove, as the landlord claims he has no money to handle the cost himself, & needless to say, he claims to be unable to resolve his $6000 debt with the condo association as well. His ''resolution'' is to sell the place as quickly as possible, meanwhile my husband, & I are unable to park without risk of our vehicles being towed. We do not feel comfortable with the idea of refusing rental payments, as we have 2 toddlers, & can't afford to be evicted. What can we do, if anything to have our parking privileges, & PRIVACY enforced? Also, how can we enforce reimbursement for the expenses we have absorbed in covering the costs of repairing the owner's appliances?

Re: Landlord not paying condo association

There seems to be an important word missing from this tale of rented condo woe, namely, LEASE, which normally a renter looks to in order to determine what his or her rights may be in a situaion such as you've described. So, one might ask with respect to your various questions, what does your lease have to say regarding these matters (if anything)?

Or, perhaps, one should ask do you even have a lease--even if it only be oral?
