Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia
landlord & tenants
My daughter and 3 friends signed an apartment lease at James Madison U. in spring of 2006. It was a 12 month lease. They renewed the lease in the spring of 2007. All monies have been paid on time and are current. At the end of August '07 the complex changed the locks on their apartment and on the mail box. They had no mail access for just over 1 week. They had to sign a parking pass,(no monies involved), to get new apartment keys. All their belongings were still in the apartment. Are these 2 things legal? Apparently they did this to the entire complex.
