Did the landlord wait to long

I subletted an apartment form a friend she claims that I destroyed the place when I left, my question is that it has been over a year how long after I have vacated the apartment can she come after me for damage to the place. Thank you for any help

Sec. 8.01-243 of the Va. Code entitled personal action for injury to person or property, generally, under subsection(B)specifies that "every action for injury to property.... will be brought within five years after the cause of action accrues."
