Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

Landlord/Tenant issue.

My mother was the landolrd

Tenant moved out with notice

Landlord did not refund the deposit and is now trying to pay it however the prior tenat hired a lawyer and the lawyer is not returning my call. I am trying to pay the deposit back prior to 08/25/09 (court date). Mother is older and confused and no longer ownes Real Estate in Virginia.

What do I do?

I am a Licensed Realtor in Florida, have no represention as a Realtor on the issie expect for the fact I am trying to settel my mothers obligations.

Well, if you have the former tenant's address, send her/him the deposit with whatever explantion that that you wish to provide with a copy to the lawyer and be done with it.
