Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

New landord will demolish apartment

My apartment was sold today and from what I hear, the new landlord will eventually tear it down and build condos instead. How much notice should the new landlord give me when I'm asked to move? According to VA code 55-248.12 (if I read it correctly), I should receive atleast six months notice. I don't have a written lease agreement however. So is the landord only required to give me 30 days notice since my lease is month to month? Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: New landord will demolish apartment

If you don't have a written lease agreement, then

in all probability your lease is the Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant Act(VRLTA)and the provision of the Act which you have referenced would be applicable.
