Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia
If my lease has expired am I still bound by the conditions of the lease?
My lease expired in April 2009 and I continued to rent until January 2010. I moved and I have received a letter from the past landlord advising me that I owe 1 months rent.
The original lease stipulated that I was to give a 1 month written notice before I moved and I was to pay 1 months rent after the notice was given.
Am I legally bound by the expired lease?

Yes, if your month to month lease which apparently commenced in May of 2009
was based on the terms of your original lease in regard to its notice and
termination provisions.
