Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

I live in Virginia Beach, VA. and had someone that was staying with me that was not on the lease. He barely paid any rent at all like he agreed, so I gave him a day to be out and he was by then. He is now living with his sister in Florida. But he still has some of his belongings here in my apartment and he said he will be back in about two weeks to get them. My question is, since I didn't have to give him an eviction notice, and he left willingly, am I still required to give him a certain amount of time to come get his belongings even though he is not living here anymore? He has not been truthful at all during his stay here so I have no reason to believe he is telling the truth about coming back here in two weeks.

Irrespective of this person's truth telling propensities, in my view you would

be well advised (in case you're later sued) to give him written notice as to a date certain by which he must come to retrieve these items of personal property

which he has left on your premises or you will then dispose

of them as you see fit. (90 days at least given his current residence

in Florida would be my suggestion and make sure you keep a record

of this written notice.)
