Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

I own live in Virginia and have rented a room (no lease agreement in place and I live in the home as well) to a couple who without my knowledge changed the door handles to the room with locks. What are my rights?

To have these unauthorized installations removed and in the future that they notify you beforehand before any such alterations to your property take place--and, that if for whatever reasons(s) this couple cannot abide these conditions, then they must leave.
