Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

I live in Virginia and currently renting an apartment. Due to slow time at work, I am now 2 months late on rent. When I tried to pay some of the rent I was told it was not enough that I needed at least half for them to accept the payment. I did deposit almost half into the deposit box and they are still telling me I owe the full price and that they are filing papers for eviction. I will not have the money by tomorrow but will have it the next day. What can I do?

Unfortunately, not much under these circumstances, except pay up

or get ready to move (once the landlord or management company has obtained a proper order from the court requiring such a move on your part).
