Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

i have been living at my brothers house he rents since June 2012, at the beginning of December my brother moved out and my name is not on the lease. I have met the property manager since then and we discussed the rent. Yesterday I received a typed up 5 day notice not from the courts and a few phone messages from the maintenance man threatening of calling the police for trespassing. What can I do and can they do this

You received this "5 day notice" from whom, the property

manager or someone else and telling you what; to pay or quit or simply to move out?

Furthermore, you have failed to clarify as to whether you may

in fact have concluded an oral lease agreement with this property

manager in your discussion of the rent (which could be a basis

for your legally staying on in this house) and whether in fact you have

paid the rent due for December.
