Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia
There was a murder in the apartment across from mine and ever since then people have been banging on doors and throwing stuff at my window. I have my wife and 4 month old and i do not feel safe. Yesterday there was a fire due to power lines right next to my window. What rights do i have to break my lease with no penalty

The less than congenial situation you've described is probably not enough for a court to sustain your breaking this lease without penalty and without the landlord's approval for such a premature termination of the lease (my opinion).
