Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

No notifcation of itemized repairs from landlord

Moved out a 18 months ago. Within 30 days of move out, received an itmeized estimate for repairs after walkthrough. there wasnt a due date or statment that it was a bill at all. I forwarded them my new address and phone # as also. Never received a formal bill, letter, or phone call the repair estimate. Now, I was declined for a new apartement with another company because my old landlord said i still owed them money. I never knew or received anything from them for 18 mnths. What should i do? dont they have to at least send me a formal bill?

Re: No notifcation of itemized repairs from landlord

Call your former landlord, request a bill (or at least a clarification that what you received was in fact intended as such), and then make arrangements to pay it and request that if appropriate that the landlord notify the credit reporting agencies that you've satisfactorily settled the matter.
