If a person invites you to stay in his home until you find a place to live and you pay rent and utilities, is this a binding contract? There are witnses to this.

Yes, binding until a general district court judge grants the owner a writ of possession and possible judgment for back rents in response to his warrant for
unlawful detainer filed against you.
