Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

The following question is in relation to Fairfax County Virginia Eviction Procedures.

I have filed in the Fairfax Co. General District Court a Summons for UnLawful Detainer which will be heard on 4/1/11 @ 9:30 am. As the landlord, I'm not allowed to change the locks or remove any possessions. The rental property, an apartment, is located in a condominium complex. An adult presented to the complex management a Power of Attorney to enter the apartment to get certain items. After reviewing the signatures on the Power of Attorney and the lease, management determined that they one in the same and gave the adult the key. Virginia does not require a notary seal on the Power Of Attorney. The adult entered the unit without a member of the management being present. The unit was ransacked. Question- Do I have the right to demand that management notify me before anyone with a power of enters the apartment?

No, there is no such "right." But you can demand it anyway. What does your contract and/or lease say? Not sure what you mean by "ransacked," but you should considering seeing an attorney and possibly law enforcement. Good luck.
