Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia
rental agreement
A friend bought our house and we live in it. We ran into financial problems and got behind on payments. We however did get caught up on the payments. The owner has the house up for sale and says that we must stay in the house until sale. He says that he has a lease but he won't supply a copy of it to us and keeps calling us for business matters. When we talk he just wont be sible. So I wrote him and told him that I wanted him to coorespond in writing to avoid stresses in both our behalf and so we could be respectful of each other. He said he will not write to us about business matters. What can we do.

Re: rental agreement
Either you have a lease (oral or written) with this owner of the house or you do not.
If you do not, then move out. If you do, then abide by it terms (to the extent that you can) until its date of termination.
