Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia
Rental Rates
I would like to know if there is a limit to how much a landlord can raise the rent at renewal time. I thought I had heard somewhere that there was. Thanks.

Re: Rental Rates
There is such a limit on rent increases in jurisdictions with rent control ordinances affecting certain properties in certain areas
of the town or city. The Cities of Richmond as well as Norfolk, I believe, still have such rent controls in effect.
