Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

We signed a lease on Aug 7, 2012. We are to move in Sept 1, 2012. Me and my mom signed the lease and my wife and grandmother are on the lease as well. My grandmother got dischagred today and she has remontoics arthcirts and very bad depression. The house is a 2 story house, and she cant climb stores and the doctor dosen't want her living alone on the first floor. We already gave a deposit of 1400.00 on Aug 7 2012 is there a why we can break the lease since we haven't moved in yet. We have the doctors notes and letters that were given to use to give to the landlord, we really need the 1400.00 deposit back.

If the landlord agrees, then yes. But if the landlord refuses, then

you're likely stuck with what you signed (in my opinion).
