What if squatters move out of my home finally but steal my personal property in the process?

File what's called a warrant in detinue with your local general
district court for the return of your personal property against
its wrongful withholders and ask the court to enter judgment
against them for its fair market value in the event such
property cannot be returned (for whatever reason).
