Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

I am subletting from a live in sublettor. I have never seen the contract between her and the landlord, nor am I aware if the actual landlord of the property is aware I am subletting from her tenant. My roommate( sublettor) has moved out and is letting her friend stay at our house, with a key to our property and a dog (no dogs policy on lease agreement) I want my deposit back and am basically moved out due to not feeling comfortable with her friend there. I paid my last months rent and she wants me to wait until landlord does walk through to return deposit. I asked to be present for walk through and she said I have no need to be there since the contract is between her and landlord. She is expecting me to pay half of utilities when I have not been at the property all month and her friend is living there with her dog. What can I do?

You should attempt to abide by the terms of whatever verbal agreement that you may have had with

this sublettor concerning your sublease and if all the main issues are not covered such as your

share of the utilities, then a reasonable interpretation of what you may or may not owe would seem

appropriate.
