Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

i have a tenant who refuses to write his rent and utilities in a check to the landlord he deposits in the landlords account at the bank without the landlords permission --- he's been warned not to do it and he still is...i keep telling the tenant it is for his protection writing a check is the only proof he makes payments to the landlord.. but he says he can use his deposit slips as proof of payment of rent and utilities in court but i told him it doesn't show what the deposits are for it's not proof which is correct.thank you

Is this tenant paying the full amount (including utilities) due

under the lease by the specified date each and every month or not?

If so, what's the problem?

If not, presumably as a landlord you know what procedures to initiate in your local general district court.
