Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

Tenant/ Roommate

I live in Hampton, VA. My roommate

abandoned our lease (she has been

gone for over 30 days, and has not

paid rent since the start of the lease

in Feb. 2009), and now I want to

remove myself from the lease. Are

there laws about abandonment that

would allow me to leave without

ruingin my credit and renter's history

since she is refusing to come back?

Re: Tenant/ Roommate

Unfortunately, no. If you can not get satisfaction from her, you might consider talking to an attorney about what you need to do to protect yourself and your credit. Good luck.
