Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

I have been a Tenant for 9 years. My Landlord allowed the house to go into Foreclosure a few months ago and the home was purchased by Fannie Mae.

I told the Landlord that I wanted my Security Deposit of $1000.00 returned to me so that I can move into another location. She told me yes, but, she is not returning my calls and she is avoiding me.

I want to take her to court, but, I need to know if I am legally due my money back?

Yes, very likely, unless you've somehow damaged the property in such a

manner as specified under the lease that would justify her keeping your deposit.
