Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

tenants rights

My cousin and I found an apartment we like to reside in together. She makes the reguired amount and has good credit. She was accepted.I was not becouse my credit is not so good and I am currently a student.Management told her that she could move in but I could not move in with her even though she is supporting me through school and makes more than enough to meet their required amount financially, is this legal. Why can't I be put on the lease or move in if one of us makes more than enough.

Re: tenants rights

The reason that you can't be put on the lease is

that(for whatever reason)the property management company doesn't want you there, which is their absolute perogative to decide as representatives of the owner of the property.

End of story (and no appeals allowed). You may wish to review your credit report to see what kind of information is on it which might have influenced the landlord's decision to exclude you from the lease.
