Re: verbal purchase agreement

The Virginia version of what's known as the Statute of Frauds found at Va. Code Sec. 11-1

requires that for such an agreement to be enforceable, i.e., an agreement for the purchase of real property, e.g. land, buildings, etc., the agreement must be in writing and signed by the party against whom enforcement is sought(aka the party to be charged).
