Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Virginia

Legal Responsibilities

I put a retainer fee for a lawyer to represent me in a divorce case which has taken 8 1/2 yrs. He withdrew just before the final decree was signed and is now suing me for his fee even though a judgement was for my x to pay him 2 years ago. Numerous things he ignored or was too slow to act on. I still have to get a QDRO, garnishment, etc and find another attorney to process these items. He bailed out and refused to go after my x even with a judgement. Do I have any recourse?

Re: Legal Responsibilities

You could file a complaint with the Virginia State Bar and possibley counterclaim for any damages which you believe that you specifically incurred due to this lawyer's alleged negligence or mishandling of your divorce and related matters.
