Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Virginia

Privacy

My 16 yr. old son was fired from lifeguard job (in neighborhood). Pool manager told people visiting the pool that ''Eric is fired for not coming in to work''. (this was an instance where they asked him to come in to cover for someone; not his scheduled day). Is this a violation of some type of privacy law. People in the neighborhood knew he was fired before he even knew; that's how he found out about it.

Neigborhood gossip is how I would characterize it, and, no, I see no credible basis for an invasion of privacy tort or related cause of action against the pool manager based upon these facts.
