Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Virginia
I went to the hospital in june complaining of severe stomach pain. I had been drinking with friends that night so I dont think they took me seriously. I went via ambulance to the emergency room where i spent the night. The next morning they released me telling me that i should just not drink again. That same morning I ended up having to call another ambulance because the pain got worse. They were the same ambulance people as before so I told them to take me to a different hospital. At the new hospital they ended up doing a few tests and getting me into an emergency surgery asap. I had holes in my stomach and intestines and had developed sepsis. I ended up spending the next week in the ICU. I am really upset that the original hospital did not catch the holes or the sepsis less than 12 hours before i ended up having to have surgery at a different place. i do not understand how they could send me home telling me i am fine when i could be so badly injured. Now they want money for the ER visit! What can I do?
