Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Virginia
my mom went to a family nurse practitioner on 02/20/2017 with the complaint of chest pain and pains going down the left side . The FNP done an Ekg and compared it to one done a couple years ago and said everything looked fine (the FNP knowing the family history of heart problems & my mom was 52 years old and a daily smoker). the Fnp said that it was either heartburn or anxiety and prescribed my mom with omeprazole (Prilosec). well unfortunately my mother passed away on 02/28/2017 at our home. The police officer's came and was talking to the medical examiner on the phone and they decided that they didn't need to do an autopsy. i was wondering if there was anything legal that could be done

First--I am sorry about your loss. As to whether there is a claim for malpractice, we dont have enough information. We need to know what the EKG showed to determine whether it was read properly. So, you need to get your mother's medical records and locate a lawyer in your part of Virginia who handles medical malpractice. Go to Best Lawyers.com and look up medical malpractice lawyers.
