Enlisted Navy Contract question

My son joined the Navy on the Deferred Entry Program, opting to enter in April 2008 because there was a $7,000.00 bonus offered if he went then.

Now, a month away from his scheduled departure to boot camp, he has been told that there is no bonus and that MEPS made a mistake.

Is there any recourse? He would have left in January had he not been offered the bonus. And how can we be sure they will honor the other promises (Aviation electronics, A school in Pensacola, etc.)

Re: Enlisted Navy Contract question

He may still have the ability to "resign" from the enlistment.

Promises are limited to what's in the contract. You have to be careful to distinguish between "promises" made by the Recruiter; promises which are not honored unless in the written contract.
